drought tolerant plants in a garden

“Making a garden that doesn’t require watering is not only possible but also extremely satisfying”.

Olivier Filippi

When creating a planting design, it is very important to think about the amount of resources and maintenance that will be required after the plants are planted. This not only includes human resources but also water resources.

This is crucial, given changing temperatures that often lead to a scarcity of water. We want the plants we select not only to survive in these harsh conditions but to thrive.

When designing a planting for a garden, we often select plants that are able to survive prolonged periods of drought- these are called drought tolerant plants. By using this approach, we work with drought, not against it.

Lack of water doesn’t have to be regarded as a limiting factor when designing a garden. On the contrary it can be an exciting and eye-opening experience.
